Category Archives: Let Them Be Little

I usually reserve personal posts for my other blog, Clark Family Diaries, but I thought this one needed to be ye ol’ main page here. Because without these two amazing humans, I wouldn’t be the photographer I am today. The laughter and memories I’ve had with these ladies since my introduction into the photography world has been nothing less than ridiculous (in all the good ways). Having shot nearly 30 weddings with Anita in the past few years, you truly get to know someone. We are talking like 300 hours here people. Hours of working together, driving together, late night conversations about photography and life in general. I actually had to delete all the text message threads on my phone between Corinne and I because it was taking up gigs of space. Yes, GIGS. That’s a lot of chatting and image sharing. We got to spend a few days together at a beach house in Bodega Bay cooking, drinking wine (sans Corinne with her baby belly), and laughing hysterically about everything and nothing.  A couple of our boys couldn’t miss school so we had to leave them behind. The weather was perfect, giving us a nice mixture of that soft, overcast light one day and that intense, deep sun drenched magic the next. Of course what do 3 photographers do when they are together but take pictures of each other. Enter the beauty that is my friends and the California Coast.

Thank you for Corinne for the picture of me n’ my mini me!

We had a week her in Sacramento where it was like 34 degrees below zero. Ok…it was like 40 but still…it felt like frostbite was going to sink in at any moment. Of course it was the only time when we could schedule this gorgeous family’s pictures so this entire set of images was taken in a span of like 6 minutes. No joke. You may recognize this family from HERE not only because they are drop dead gorgeous, but also because they are our dear friends. What an honor it is to document your friend’s growing family. This little guy is going to be a brother! Her kids will be super close together like mine…good luck my friend, good luck! xo

There is just something special about in home sessions. The fact that you are surrounded by everything that defines you. The fact that this venue is your sanctuary. The fact that this is where you make all your memories and raise your first baby together. You brush your teeth there…have your morning coffee there…share your late night snuggles there. It doesn’t get much more meaningful than that. These simple, “life as it is” types of sessions are my absolute favorite. Just being there to follow a family around and document what is happening in their real lives is an honor I can’t describe. To be trusted and let in to a family’s most private and sacred space to capture memories is a gift. Thank you to this beautiful San Francisco family for letting me share the morning with you.
