Today is the greatest…Day I’ve never known…Can’t wait for tomorrow…”
It seems as if I’ve had this song stuck in my head for like 2 years now. As sappy as this may sound, my kiddos, hubby, and our pet Dodger make my life worth living and the days seem to get better and better with them in it. I felt compelled to write a blog post on our day at the beach today just because it symbolizes the sweet simplicity that has become my life. The surrealistic marine layer added to the calming mood of the morning, strolling the same beach my husband has for all of his life. I want for nothing more than to hold on to this feeling of completion and serenity. I will even happily deal with the aftermath of sand in the bed if I get to feel this way forever.

I call this one “predator and prey”.

They met before they were born. Their moms in the same “getting ready for baby” class and a bond was immediately formed. They were born within days of each other, both sets of them. Friends. Sisters. I saw an old picture of all four of these girls on the beach when the eldest girls were four and and the youngest were babies. To be able to capture them all together at this stage in their young adult lives was a privilege. Through the years they’ve shared childhood, memories, joy, and tragedy. They’ve kept their bonds strong through long distance separation and now the eldest two are making their way into the grown up world as seniors. I hope someday they’ll look back on these photos and share them with their own children when they talk about their lives together as friends and sisters.

Not my normal processing style…but something different because a tractor in a field with 4 girls on it calls for something different…

How cute are they!

I can only imagine all the conversations they’ve shared over the years together. So much history…

And because I have an insatiable love for what the sun does to figures…
Love this one of them on the swings. It’s like memories of childhood setting with the golden sun.

Awww…

This picture summarizes how good friends should always make each other feel…like jumping for joy! Thank you girls for making new memories with each other in front of my camera.

There is a special place in my heart for photographing families in their own home with their new addition. In the brief time I am there, I get an inside peek into their world as it is now. Secure, but unknown. New, yet familiar. With little Josie’s arrival, their unit is now complete as a party of five. I love the raw emotion of watching a family interact together while I catch their private moments, toddler tantrums, and inside jokes. Not only have they changed the “population sign” in their small town, they have changed the way I view the world by watching them just be who they are, embracing new life, bonding as a family, and experiencing life as it is…
