Wow! This day was more than filled with love and laughter and a true appreciation for life. It was one of those days where you meet so many new people and you want to be friends with ALL of them. Every one. When the bride and groom love other so intensely that they can’t keep their hands off each other and they dance the jitterbug. Where their friends cover their “getaway car” with inappropriate paraphernalia and chase it down the drive when they leave. When the dance floor goes OFF the the venue is filled with the sweetest details. A giant thank you goes to my dear friend Anita Martin of Anita Martin Photography for choosing me to 2nd shoot this fantastic and heartwarming wedding with her.

Oh gosh. Where do I even start here? It’s like taking War and Peace and condensing it into 11 words. Simply not possible. It doesn’t matter what I write or what images I post as it will never even come close to the reality that was this wedding week. You know when you plan a destination wedding to keep numbers low because you know not everyone you invite will actually make the trip?

Ya, well…that didn’t happen here AT ALL. We all came and we all came in stylish, vacation minded, coconut drink donning fashion. Though the wedding was only 1 day, the celebration, love, and laughter carried on all week amongst all the goofy subjects you will see below.

Since the groom grew up in Hawaii, we were blessed with daily emails tipping us to the best local fare and bits and pieces of the history of Hawaii in the pure sarcastic nature we all love about him. Some of my favorite snippets from our daily updates include, but are definitely not limited to, the following:

  • (Note that there is no ‘d’ on the ‘shave’: if you ever see someone selling Shave Ice with a sign that says “Authentic Hawaiian Shaved Ice” you punch them in the nose and yell “Liar!”)
  • Order a half-dozen Malasadas. Do not share them.
  • Now this part here is specifically for Alicia: you are more likely to be attacked by a gang of delinquent dolphin teenagers wielding switchblades than you are going to get stung by a man-of-war, bitten by a shark, or attacked by a rabid turtle. Get in the water you ninny (let Mark or Steve go first).

I think the Hawaiian word that best describes this trip and all who came together to celebrate it is: Hānai

Means: Adopted, to raise, rear, feed—also The people you choose to call your family

Wooden bowl favors made by: Daniel Young Skateboards

Catered by: Keneke’s

Florals by: Watanabe Florist

Shave ice: Hopa

Special shout out to my 2nd shooter…my hubby…who I just got to enjoy an 8 day kid free vacation with. Hallelujah!!!!

Now bring on the memories…

THIS is how many people flew from California.

Congratulations and best wishes for a beautiful life together!

This peppy and super easy on the eyes couple got hitched at The Flower Farm in Loomis. Seriously, SUCH an adorable place. I mean really…fluffy, white chickens just roam the grounds. That in itself made it top notch in my book. Gorgeous people, a slew of laughter and goofiness, and let’s not forget loads of love rounded out this perfect fall day. Yes, I’m that far behind in blogging. Thank you again to the super talented Anita Martin of Anita Mnrtin Photography for choosing me to 2nd shoot this wedding with you. It’s simply unbelievable how much fun it is to click away with you for 8 hours straight.
