I was recently lucky enough to be able to shoot the Sacramento area engagement session of Kelly and Gio in preparation for their upcoming wedding in the Bay Area. Kelly and Gio originally met through mutual friends but it was really their love of college football that helped move their relationship from the bench to the field to the eventual most exiting touchdown of their lives when they tie the knot this fall. They will be getting married at Garre Winery and wanted to incorporate their love of drinking wine with the future site of their matrimonial vows. It is obvious from their interaction with each other that they truly enjoy being in each other’s company, laughing, snuggling, and just being together. I am so looking forward to shooting their wedding in a few months and see them surrounded by all the most loved and appreciated people in their lives. Congratulations you two! Football is life…Get in the Game!

Something about being in downtown Sacramento just helps everyone find the fun button. It’s a lively but not uncomfortably crowded location with fabulous hotels, quaint eating establishments, and the long standing history of the Elks Tower. I was lucky enough to have been able to second shoot this wedding with Anita Martin and we started the morning photographing the anticipation of the day at the Citizen Hotel which is a gem in itself. The day was filled with the bride’s unique style and this couple’s sweet and sincere adoration for each other. When you walk away at the end of the night knowing you have been made a better person just by being in the presence of a union such as this, you know it’s been a great day.

Update!!

Raquel and Sean met in Vegas while attending separate bachelorette and bachelor parties. She was living in Texas and he in San Diego. Upon their first encounter with each other, they both knew this immediate friendship was going to lead them out of Sin City straight to the alter. Well, they may not have known it quite that soon, but when Raquel went to visit Sean in San Diego a while later, she never left his side. What happened in Vegas, definitely did not stay in Vegas. Thank goodness because these two are a match made in hilarity heaven. Just being in their presence, surrounded by the lighthearted and genuine adoration the have for each other gave my smile muscles an 8 hour workout. They chose The Forest House Lodge as their venue of choice for their nuptials and a place where their destination wedding guests could monopolize the entire establishment. People traveled from near and as far as Guam to watch these two join forces. The ceremony was full of happy tears and emotion while the reception overflowed with positive energy and laughter. During the ceremony, Sean read a poem he wrote for Raquel when they were first courting that could quite possibly go down in best ceremony poem delivery history. I could not get enough of this day and am pretty sad that they live so far away as I’d for sure be knocking down their door to hang out, drink beers, and listen to country music with them. My only regret was missing the after party because I know they rocked the pine needles right off the trees. Raquel…you were a knockout. Sean…you are the raddest rainbow unicorn sock wearing dude I’ve ever met. Thank you to you both and your friends and family for making me feel like I was one of y’all (had to throw some twang in there). Your day was one I won’t soon forget.
